The
Balik-Hanapbuhay Program, literally translated as "Back
to Work", seeks to provide families of street children
with livelihood opportunities and sustainable income.
Believing that teaching them
how to "fish" is more valuable than giving them the
fish, the He Cares Foundation has held a variety of skills training
workshops for the children and parents alike.
Over the years, many volunteers
have unselfishly shared their skills and taught various crafts
in the Center. Among the skills which have been taught are:
silk-screening, jewelry-making, sewing, welding, crochet, wood-working
and others.
The Foundation also coordinates
with buyers and occasionally participates in bazaars and gift
fairs to help market the products which have been made by the
families of the street children.
Ways
to Help
There
are many ways you can help in the livelihood program of the
He Cares Foundation.
You
may make a donation to fund the program's
activities.
You
may donate supplies and
equipment which will be helpful for livelihood projects.
If
you have contacts with suppliers of equipment and materials
for livelihood projects, you can help us by soliciting and
coordinating donations of their products.
You
may help us get donations from corporate sponsors.
You
may volunteer to share
your knowledge and skills to children, young adults and their
families.
You
can support the livelihood program by purchasing and promoting
products and services from the He Cares workshop! Purchase
our beadwork jewelry, distributed by Papemelroti.
In
whatever way you help, you can make a difference in the lives
of the street children.
